1. Describe your band in 13 words or less.
Death Metal from the good old 90's spiced with modern
and melodic elements!
2. What are your main influences, both musically
and otherwise?
There are many influences in the mix really. The Scandinavian
sound, meets groove meets core? Each and every band
and style we listen to is just one piece of the puzzle.
The song "Man In Black" from Johnny Cash might
give everyone a clue? Everyone knows why he decided
to wear only black clothes at that time, right? His
words from 1971 are still true today and perfectly explain
why we act, feel and think how we do, Ha! Ha!
3. Tell us about the last record you released?
"Black Death" is our debut, and we've released
it through AFM
. We recorded it last winter at
Rekorder Studios, right here in Hamburg. It includes
ten songs, all written together.
Every song has its own story or message, but all in
all, I wrote about the dark side of might basically.
We decided to let the recordings sound like us as a
real band playing, really organic, and are really proud
of the result. No fakes. No studio pimping
."
"And Jumali Katanis' cover artwork really fits.
It's really impressive - the perfect compliment to our
music!
4.
When are you next out on tour?
Well, we're hoping to find our own booking agent real
soon and try to get out there and play as much as possible
in the next few months. As a newcomer we're also interested
in loads of tour supports. Nothing's fixed so far, but
we're confident that we'll be doing dates soon. Where
ever YOU want us to play, we'll try to make it happen?
Give us a call!!
5.
Your home town aside, which is your favourite city to
play?
Difficult to say. Hamburg is a town full of music and
nightlife and it's a great place. But, in my opinion,
it doesn't depend on how large a city is. I've played
several shows in small villages and the crowd their
usually behave like hungry monsters that love to go
crazy. They are a totally different experience. I'm
not able to choose just one place, because there are
too many fantastic places. Especially all the Open Air
festivals in our summer? Fresh air and loads of people
who just want to have fun? Perfect match!
6.
If you could go out on tour with any two other bands,
who would you pick?
Napalm Death and Hatebreed. The two most powerful live
bands on earth!!
7.
What has been the funniest / most horrific thing thats
ever happened to you whilst on stage / tour?
Well, as the lead singer of my first band, I performed
at the front of the stage, in a small club in Rendsburg,
and one guy, from the crowd, spit beer, from his mouth,
right into my shorts. It sounds unbelievable but it's
a true story! Unfortunately I was so shocked and perplexed,
that I was completely unable to react? Like a rookie,
I continued the show instead of taking his ass for a
ride, which I should have been doing!!
8.
Whats the best thing about being in a band?
Definitely having 'fans', I would say. It sounds silly,
but a few days ago, a friend of mine told me that I
have the best hobby of all time! What can I say? Damn
right!! Again and again, it's a total pleasure for me
to witness OUR fans, singing my lyrics, or banging their
heads from the first to the last song!! I'm so thankful
for that respect, man!
9.
What was the first record you ever bought?
I started with Sepultura's "Chaos A.D.", in
my opinion, a timeless masterpiece! Listen to the song
"Slave New World" and you'll know what I mean,
right? I bought that at the age of 14, in 1993. It was
like an invitation to become a 'real metal-head' and
to get into all those great bands releasing records
throughout that decade? It was what started all this!
10.
Whats the most embarrassing CD in your collection?
Ha! Ha! The ultimate "sin of my youth", so
to speak, is the single "Overload" by Sugarbabes.
Don't ask me for a reason for this lapse of taste, it's
just there
This is definitely the most embarrassing
CD in my collection. Otherwise, I'm pretty open-minded
and will easily listen to everything from Cypress Hill
to Der Dritte Raum without feeling "untrue",
ha! ha!. In my opinion, metal is the best but it's not
the only music worth listening to!
11.
If you had to give up music and do a different job,
what would your ideal job be?
Oh God!! We already have to do this
I have already
found my ideal job and have been working as an officer
for more than ten years. It's a popular fallacy that
musicians can pay their bills easily? I don't want to
complain about the facts of life too much, it has to
be this way. I get well paid and, in addition, I put
as much into the band as possible, but we do live in
a so called two-job-society these days, so we shouldn't
be afraid of admitting this! It's like it is. If Buried
In Black should make a profit one day, then that will
be on top!"
12.
Tell us something youve never told anyone else
in an interview.
Ha! Ha! OK, I'll first say thank you, for not asking
me what my lyrics are about! It is, was and will ever
be, the most boring question. More or less everyone
can hear or read them, and if there is a question -
please - refer to the content, ha! ha!"
13. Famous last words?
Stay tuned, stay brutal. And, thanks for your support!
