1. Describe your band in 13 words or less.
Dark and melodic Black`n`roll from the north.
2. What are your main influences, both musically
and otherwise?
This lineup has it differences both in taste of music
and playing style. I`m more of a classic metal dude,
influenced and inspired by Maiden, Sabbath and Motorhead
etc. Ripmeister is the one who puts a lot of the black
elements into Byfrost. Alkolust having slayer at his
absolute favorite. So with my metal riffs, Ripmeisters
blackness, and Alkolust hammering the shit out of the
battery we get the groove we want. We have also grown
up with Norwegian Black metal , so this is an obvoius
influence also.
3. Tell us about the last record you released?
It`s our second album. We released Black Earth on Painkiller
Records in 2010. ``Of Death`` has a bigger, more complex
sound is the first album. The production is a little
step away from the cold sounding Black Earth album.
Cold we were and we still are, but we progress as musicians
all the time, and the songs evolves with us. I would
the describe the music as metal with a touch of the
evil from blackmetal. It contains a drive and groove
similar to rock`n`roll and classic metal that suddenly
hammers you with blastbeats and spinning guitars. Lyrically
this album contains a lot of death and suffering as
the name ``Of Death`` displays.
4.
When are you next out on tour?
We are looking at several deals from bookers at the
moment, and a tour is in the planning stage right now
for the winter 2011. Othewise we have Bloodstock coming
up in England and Partysan in Germany. We will do a
release tour around Norway also in the fall of 2011.
5.
Your home town aside, which is your favourite city to
play?
Our second ``home town```Haugesund. We have played the
Karmøygeddon festival two times since our start,
and the crowd is awesome down there.
6.
If you could go out on tour with any two other bands,
who would you pick?
Motorhead and Iron Maiden!
7.
What has been the funniest / most horrific thing thats
ever happened to you whilst on stage / tour?
Well we played in Tilburg in the Netherlands so drunk
that we almost can`t remember the show. Ripmeister forgot
to plug in his bass so we played without for half the
show. And our drummer couldn't hold on to his drumsticks
so he used just one, most of the time. Horrible show,
and it made us quit drinking before shows ever again.
So lesson learned LOL...
8.
Whats the best thing about being in a band?
To be on a stage performing live is the best feeling
there is. The energy is overwhelming.
9.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Number of the beast with Iron Maiden. Best band in the
world period.
10.
Whats the most embarrassing CD in your collection?
Ehhh.... Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream maybe.....
I don't know I just like it, haha...
11.
If you had to give up music and do a different job,
what would your ideal job be?
Something that generates enough money to travel and
see the world.
12.
Tell us something youve never told anyone else
in an interview.
I take my vitamins every day.
13. Famous last words?
Horns to the sky to all our present and future fans.
Hope to see you in the pit.
