1. Describe your band in 13 words or less.
Odd times with more dynamics than a stick has ever
been shaken at.
2. What are your main influences, both musically
and otherwise?
As a band I have to say that we each have our own varied
tastes in music across a variety of genres, we all draw
inspiration from different sources as well as a lot
of common ones. I think that this ability to head in
a common direction but at the same time with our own
individual perspectives that is what makes our music
so interesting, its what gives our sound its own unique
edge. I have to say we're very conscious as a band of
what I have refured to for years as metal for metals
sake, being as dark & as brutal as possible just
for the hell of it. To me it's like when you were a
child & would stick a playing card into the spokes
of your bike, just make it sound like a motor cycle,
you can pedal as hard as you want, but it's still just
a bicycle.
I'd
say that vocally my main influences are Slipknot, KoRn,
American Head Charge, Devil Driver, Tool & APC
Lyrically
I tend to look at the world around me & draw on
personal experiences, issues I have with the way this
whole thing 'life' seems to work & also the work
of a lot of great satirical comedians.
3. Tell us about the last record you released?
We recently released our self titled EP, which after
months of gruelling prep work, what with Dan (Bass)
masterminding the recording & production process,
plus the conceptual development of the artwork produced
by the talented Mr. Matt Frederick, the EP itself &
also the feedback we have had has surpassed all of our
expectations, we are truly proud to call it our first
release. If you're interested in purchasing a physical
or digital copy, then visit our website www.collision-process.com
there you'll also find a sample of the EP to feast your
ears upon.
I'll
also let you guys at Metalheadz in on a little behind
the scenes info; we're just finishing preliminary work
on our next release Emperor's, this is a two track single
(yes, it's an oxymoron, we know) due to be released
later this year which, for the moment at least, will
be available in digital download formats only.
4.
When are you next out on tour?
We're currently in the process of booking a set of local
gigs for 2011, as well as some further a field for the
latter part of the year. So far we're confirmed to play
*
The Wetmore Whistle, Burton-on-Trent - Thursday 27th
January
* The Grapes, Stafford - Thursday 10th February
* Flapper & Firkin, Birmingham - Thursday 24th March
* Bloodstock Metal to the Masses (Queens Hall Nuneaton)
- Sunday 3rd April
We're also confirmed to play Scruffy Murphy's (Birmingham)
& a few others, the dates will be uploaded to the
website as soon as they are set in stone.
5.
Your home town aside, which is your favourite city to
play?
I used to love the Stourbridge scene, always had a good
vibe to it, I have to say though I think that each city
has its hot spots that are truly a pleasure to play
at.
6.
If you could go out on tour with any two other bands,
who would you pick?
Ah, now that's a tough one. Personally I'd have to say
Slipknot & Tool, just for the pleasure of meeting
Corey and Maynard, and seeing them perform every night.
7.
What has been the funniest / most horrific thing thats
ever happened to you whilst on stage / tour?
Many, many years ago, with one of my old bands, I might,
if you believe the vicious rumours which certain individuals
still like to circulate, have had quite a horrific fall
on stage in front of a packed out backroom at the old
eddies no.8 in Birmingham before it got burnt down.
8.
Whats the best thing about being in a band?
I'd say the best thing is the creative outlet it gives
to us, whatever your emotional state at the time I think
it really reflect in the music. I cant describe how
awesome it feels to get on a stage & be someone
else for 40 minutes, an hour.
9.
What was the first record you ever bought?
First CD I ever brought with my own money was Slipknot
- Wait & bleed, the single. The rest is history.
10.
Whats the most embarrassing CD in your collection?
I'd have to say it would probably be an old 'Now' compilation
album or something, I haven't brought CD's for many
years, atleast not anything I'd call embarrassing. However
on my PC in a digital format it would probably be Alanis
Morrisette, I know, I know, for a metal vocalist it's
an odd one, but I find it always puts a smile on my
face, haha.
11.
If you had to give up music and do a different job,
what would your ideal job be?
I'm currently employed as a quantity surveyor &
it suits me just fine, but I'd have to say, perfect
job would probably be something that allows me to sleep
till late and work minimum hours for maximum pay.
12.
Tell us something youve never told anyone else
in an interview.
I have a small dog.
13. Famous last words?
They always say that you can't change the past but you
can certainly have an effect on tomorrow.
