1. Can you give us a brief intro to the band?
SERENITY is from Tyrol in Austria and in the way
it sounds today was formed in 2004. Today the band consists
of Georg Neuhauser (vocals), Mario Hirzinger (keys),
Andreas Schipflinger (drums), Fabio D'Amore (bass) and
myself (Thomas Buchberger - guitars)
2. Musically, what would you say your main influences
are?
Basically it's all about Melodic Symphonic Metal with
influences from a variety of bands out of different
genres. At the end of the day everybody interested into
bands such as Kamelot, Nightwish, Within Temptation,
Epica, Sonata Arctica, Delain, Sirenia, Stratovarius,
etc. should check it out! I think they should like our
music!
3. Tell us about your upcoming/present album/demo
releases?
We released our first demo EP "Engraved Within"
in 2005 and got a lot of attention from magazines and
labels all over Europe. In 2007 our debut album "Words
Untold & Dreams Unlived" was released followed
by "Fallen Sanctuary" in 2008. "Death
& Legacy" is our new release to hit stores
on February 25th in 2011. The album deals with a historical
concept and brings to life a bunch of stunning Symphonic
Metal songs. Unique and extraordinary!

What are your upcoming tour plans?
We will tour all over Europe in late April and most
of May as support to Dutch DELAIN. Ahead of this we
will perform several shows in Austria followed by festival
gigs in summer. Maybe there will be another tour in
late 2011. Then we will see what the future holds -
more touring or work on the next release.
5. Where is your favorite city to gig, both in terms
of playing and visiting?
There are so many great places all over Europe. But
I have to admit that I like cities and the venues such
as Tilburg (NL), Cologne (GER), Vienna (AUT) or London
and Paris. All shows there were fabulous with a huge
crowd. Paris got our attention during a day off (a looong
and special one). The rest was always great to gig and
last but not least Barcelona was stunning too! So many
cities have so much worthy to see...
6. If you could go out on tour with any band, who
would it be?
Nightwish I guess - this would fit perfectly and we
could reach a lot of fans who normally should dig our
music.
7. Have you ever suffered an onstage/tour related injury?
Oh yes... During our tour with Kamelot in 2009 most
of us got ill with Georg having such an illness that
we had to cancel half the tour. One show in the UK and
several shows in Switzerland, France and Spain had to
be cancelled. This was really hard for us... But such
things can happen - especially when you tour all over
Europe with a mobile home, have to drive on your own
and having to enjoy Scottish weather.
8. What's the funniest thing that's ever happened
to you on tour?
When Mario - our keyboardist - injured his shoulder
and already had a plaster at the other arm. It was not
funny for him, but for the rest of the band seeing him
with 2 bandaged arms was so bad that it was funny in
the end.
9. What are the best / worst things about being in
a band?
So many good things, a few bad things. Pro: being the
star at gigs, releasing albums, writing your own awesome
music, being a little successful and building up your
own business. Contra: being away from families a lot,
spending all holidays for the band, and it is soooooo
much work with all the music, recordings, rehearsals,
studio work and editing, interviews, homepage, internet
channels, promotion, organisation, video shootings,...
10. What's your personal poison of choice?
I am addicted to everything about music, movies and
video games! (Did I get this question right????) [We
meant alcohol, but it's not the worst answer we've had!

11. Which band / album do you love but know you shouldn't?
I love bands such as Kamelot, Nightwish, Sonata Arctica,
old Metallica and Iron Maiden and many more. And I cannot
think of any I should not love.
12. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck, if a wood
chuck could chuck wood?
A wood chuck would chuck as much wood as a wood chuck
could chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood. --- Did
I say that you're crazy ;-)
