Album Review: Dance or Die - Nostradamnation
By Rob Kendrick

Nostradamnation is the sixth album released by the Electronic, Darkwave band from Berlin "Dance or Die". With a ten year gap between album releases Dace or Die have somewhat of an uphill battle to live up to the expectations of fans.
My first impression is to emphasise their Electronic, Darkwave labels. Not often are these two combined so efficiently. With a slow and consistent beat in bed with a deep voice that screams out "Peter Steele, these guys know how to do business.
We kick things off with the song "Helios" Such a dark track this is, with lyrics which would fit right in at a Sisters of Mercy gig. From the off I can tell this album is going to be well constructed if the rest of the album is anything like this first track. The Album picks up the tone and then grounds it again sustaining a sublime drama throughout, "Northern Winter" is a perfect example of this.
I am very pleased to see this band is willing to experiment with pace and with slight deviation of style but keeping their overall atmosphere, something that I rarely see done so brilliantly. This band made their debut in 1991 and had to compete with an already popular KMFDM, they have certainly come a long way and have evolved their sound fantastically. (Something KMFDM hasn't done anywhere near as well.) Every step of the way you will be toe tapping and more to the rhythm of this awesome dance beat, also satisfying those Darkwave/Goth needs you may have.
The atmosphere around this album is full of that measurable franticness of Electronic music intertwined with deep, dark and soothing calm, visiting places only "Type O Negative" or "Fields of the Nephilim" would dare venture.
If you got my references to Peter Steele or Sisters of Mercy and have an appetite for Darkwave or Electronic then I cannot recommend this album enough.
