Emerging
from the London scene, Eradication label themselves
as Metal/Death-Metal and deliver a debut
album which certainly lives up to that moniker. From
the very beginning the album goes for the jugular,
with heavy bass lines, crushing drums and intricate
guitar work with a nice screaming vocal range on the
top.
There
are no slow songs on this album, the pace
is unrelenting yet somehow doesnt get too boring-
theres just enough variety within the songs
to make them all sound fresh. There are no clean
vocals on this album, no Metalcore style big choruses
- this album is far more reminiscent of old school
thrash but with a modern twist. Indeed, in some of
the more complex sections there is a sense of Megadeth-esque
riff styling. The galloping riffs are complemented
by some excellent lead guitar work, with some technical
solos and melody lines.
The
whole album has been very well produced; everything
sounds clear but not too clinical.
The
only real fault with this album is that the lyrics
are almost completely indecipherable most of the time.
Whilst this is a feature of hardcore vocals most of
the time anyway, it does mean that I cant imagine
audience members singing lines back at the band, which
is a shame because the songs themselves are excellent
are bound to be a treat to hear live. Im by
no means saying that the album needs any traditionally
sung vocals (I actually think that would detract from
the ferocity of it), but rather that it would be a
good element to have some screamed vocals which are
hooks and are easy to understand.
However,
this small fault aside, this is a fantastic album
which will hopefully bring the band to the attention
of metal fans around the UK and then worldwide. Eradication
look set to be a real force in 2011.
